Personal Loans / Credit Card Debt Claims

Many residents fall victim to predatory personal loan and credit card companies. These companies attempt to impose excessively high interest rates as penalties. As your Judge, Lisa is committed to making fair and impartial decisions based on law and humanity.  That is a delicate balance that she's mastered in her tenure with Harris County.  She will ensure there are available resources, including pro bono attorneys, before trial and impartial / non-bias mediators to help assist in resolving your claims.   She is eager to assist with resolving these claims in an objective manner for both parties.

Small Claims Disputes

Small claims can be made when there's a dispute between two or more parties over money, property, or services. A Justice of the Peace can provide relief in these disputes through small claims court for up to $20,000. Strengthening the community outreach and education is key for residents to have a better understanding of the court's role and the resources is a must.  As your judge, Lisa is committed to listening with patience while demonstrating compassion and ruling with impartiality.  Licensed, non-party, mediators will be available to assist resolving your case prior to trial and in some cases, obsoleting trial all together with an agreed resolution between the parties.  Justice with a purpose and results that are effective.

Evictions

The Justice of the Peace addresses landlord-tenant disputes within its jurisdiction. The state of Texas offers programs that provide rent relief to help tenants avoid eviction. Additionally, legal assistance is available for those who qualify. Lisa understands the sensitivity of these cases and she has the sincere compassion and understanding of those needing assistance.  Lisa is determined to make the availability of these resources known to everyone prior to trial, to give tenants the opportunity to resolve their issue without attending court.  This improves court efficiency and helps the residents stay house.  Lisa is committed to ensure everyone has access to justice and their right to a speedy trial.

Juvenile - Truancy

Ensuring our children attend and stay in school is crucial to their education. We must take responsibility for student attendance and address disciplinary issues amongst our youth when necessary. This approach will help decrease the number of students who fall to the school-to-prison route. Lisa will prioritize working with the education department and county agencies to address at-risk youths. By keeping our children engaged and setting a positive example, we can inspire and create accessible pathways for their future success.
